Sodium Causes High Blood Pressure

One serving of sausage can contain an entire day's worth of sodium. Since I stopped eating super salty stuff like sausage my blood pressure has gone down, according to the meter at the grocery store. I think it's best that I don't eat much sausage anymore if such a simple change can make my blood pressure drop by at least 10 points (I didn't even go die-hard low sodium, I just stopped eating the worst stuff), it's just not worth it.

Johnsonville

I hate to kick off this blog with such a negative report but the story has to be told.

I bought I big 3lb box of Johnsonville Beer Brats the other day. There was a bit of a problem with these particular brats, so I threw a couple in the scanner before cooking them.

As you can see, these brats' casings were ripped up or not large enough or something. I ended up squeezing the extra meat out of the links so the casings could be sealed up properly resulting in the consumption of mini-brats rather than full size ones.

They still tasted okay and I was able to use the excess sausage meat in some scramble eggs for breakfast, so it wasn't all bad.

Welcome

This is the Sausage Blog, or the Annals of Sausage and Wiener Experiences. I hope you have your sausages made or picked out for this holiday weekend, but if you can't decide exactly what sort of sausage you're going to be grilling this week make sure you check back here for hot sausage info.
